Navy Gymnastics Team Beats Springfield College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-The Navy Gymnastics team (3-1) swept the horizontal bar and the vault en route to a 201.55-192.6 victory over Springfield College Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Mass.

Freshman Josh Blackman took home first in both events, scoring an 8.6 on the horizontal bar and a season's best 9.15 on the vault. Tripp Glasgow tied Blackman for first on the horizontal bar with a 8.6, while Peter Langley took home third with an 8.4 Andy Helchinger finished second on the vault (9.05), while Nick Willlet finished third (8.8).

The Mids also got first place finishes from Glasgow on the floor exercise (9.0), Dan Finnegan on the pommel horse (9.05) and Helchinger on the parallel bars (8.45). Finnegan won the all-around competition with a 50.25.

The Mids will be off until Feb. 23 when they travel to Tampa, Fla., to participate in the All-Academy Championship.
