Rogers' 5-Under Par Paces Navy Golf at Drew Upton Tiger Classic
Links associated with this release: WESTOVER, Md. — Junior Nick Rogers turned in a 5-under par 67 in the first round of the Drew Upton Tiger Classic to pace the Mids to third place (1-under par 287) after the first day of action at the Great Hope Golf Course. Leading the tournament is Loyola with a 2-under par 284, while Binghamton posted a 4-under par 286. Army is just 2 strokes behind the Mids at 289 and the host Towson is 4 strokes back at 291. Rogers' 5-under par set a course record, but the third-year player out of Lothian, Md., held the record for just 30 minutes. Loyola's Ben Schubert stole the record away from Rogers by posted a 6-under par 66. Navy sophomore Billy Hurley produced a 1-under par 71, along with scores of 74 by Brian Crum, 75 by Drew Craig and a 78 by Marty Keogh. The Mids return to the links Sunday in the final round of competition. |
