DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bjorn Asbjornsson's penalty kick in the 74th minute was the difference as No. 3 Webber International University rallied past No. 6 Oklahoma Christian University 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the 2006 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Saturday (Nov. 18) evening.
The Warriors improved to 14-4 and will face No. 2 Graceland University in 6 p.m. semifinal match Monday (Nov. 20). The Eagles ended their season at 12-5-2.
The penalty kick - the first of the tournament - was set up when Asbjornsson was taken down in the box.
Webber International, which trailed 1-0 at the half thanks to a goal by Oklahoma Christian's Matt Clark, tied the match 3:38 into the second half when Kiren Jones sent in a volley from 35 yards out into the left corner of the net. The Warriors took a 2-1 lead in the 54th minute when Andy Glynne fed Matt Amos who tucked it inside the near post. The Eagles tied the match at 2 when Clark fed a through ball to Brady Nikkel who beat Webber International goalkeeper Tony Restino at the 61:36 mark.
