Darell Grames of Kansas Wesleyan University , Brian Kurtz of University of Saint Francis (Ind.) and Kyle Chilton of Pikeville College (Ky.) have been selected as the NAIA National Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2006.
Grames, a senior running back from Red Bluff, California, had his best game of the season in his final game at Kansas Wesleyan. He carried 35 times for 218 yards and had four touchdowns. He moved into third place all-time at Kansas Wesleyan in rushing yards on his first carry of the game.
Kurtz, a senior linebacker from Fort Wayne, Indiana, threw a key block to spring teammate Dustin Westafer on 57 yard interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter. Kurtz had nine tackles on the night and intercepted a pass at the Saint Francis 20 to end any scoring threat with 1:25 left to play.
Chilton, a freshman from Clearwater, Florida, was perfect on the day by making all four of his field goal attempts with his longest being 61 yards. He also connected on field goals from 36, 31 and 26 yards out in thier 19-8 win.
