SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Jamie Mueller, a 1987 graduate of Benedictine College and former running back for the Ravens, was inducted into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Hall of Fame on January 6.  The ceremony took place in San Antonio during the annual American Football Coaches Association meeting.

Mueller set numerous Benedictine school records while his work ethic, physical style of play and natural ability differentiated him from others on the field. In 1985, Mueller led the Ravens to a 10-0 regular season finish and No.2 ranking in the final NAIA poll.

Following a stellar collegiate career, Mueller became the 78th pick in the 1987 NFL draft, taken by the Buffalo Bills. Mueller excelled as a running back, finishing as the second leading rusher behind NFL star Thurmon Thomas.  He was also the primary fullback for the five-time Pro Bowler in his four years with the Bills.

During his four-year career with the Bills, Mueller ran for 901 yards on 238 attempts, an average of 3.8 yards per carry with four rushing touchdowns. Mueller also had success catching the ball as an NFL running back, hauling in 28 receptions, 16 of which came in his final season with the team, accumulating 169 yards and one touchdown catch. Mueller also played in a total of four NFL playoff games, earning one start in 1990 and rushing for 54 yards on 19 carries in his NFL playoff career.

Mueller was highly respected throughout the NFL and in the broadcast booth as one of the leagues most physical players, accomplished blockers and special teams player. Mueller was part of three Super Bowl teams that not only brought national recognition to Benedictine College, but also showed NAIA student-athletes throughout the country how hard work and utilizing the skills you have can take
you to the pinnacle of sport.

Mueller's 49 career collegiate touchdowns and two PATs rank him second in career scoring at Benedictine with 296 points and he continues to hold the Ravens' record for single-game rushing yards at 257. In his four seasons Mueller rushed for 4,038 yards on 523 carries, a mark that sits third in Benedictine's football history and his 4,221 yards of total offense rank him eighth all-time at the school.
