UC Irvine Takes Home Division I-AAA ADA All-Sports Trophy for 2006-07
July 3, 2007 Cleveland, Ohio - The University of California Irvine received the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (D1-AAA ADA) All-Sports trophy for the 2006-07 year. UC Irvine was the top-ranked Division I-AAA institution in the 2006-07 U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup standings. The Anteaters were led by their national championship in men's volleyball and their third place showing in baseball. UC Irvine also scored in women's golf (19th), men's swimming (25th), women's tennis and swimming (33rd) and men's golf (58th). "The members of the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association are delighted to present the All-Sports trophy to the top collegiate sports program in Division I-AAA," says 2007-08 Division I-AAA President Lee Reed, director of athletics at Cleveland State University. "This award identifies the best all-around sports program in Division I-AAA and I am delighted to award it to UC Irvine. I congratulate their athletics administrators, coaches and student-athletes for a great perform-ance this year." Finishing in the top-five of Division I-AAA programs is the University of California Santa Barbara in second, including a national championship in men's soccer; Pepperdine University in third; the University of Denver in fourth; and Providence College in fifth.
