MWC Volleyball Wins Two Matches In First Round of NCAA Tournament No. 14 seed Colorado State and BYU victorious in opening round matches Friday night.
Nov. 30, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Mountain West Conference Volleyball opened the 2007 NCAA Tournament with two wins in the first round Friday. The No. 14 seed and 21st-ranked Colorado State Rams and BYU Cougars both swept past their opponents, while the UNLV Rebels lost a five-game match to No. 25 Long Beach State. The Rams defeated Illinois State, 30-26, 30-20, 30-15, in the first match at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. CSU will face Michigan Saturday at 7 p.m. CT in a second-round match. BYU beat Mississippi, 30-27, 30-21, 30-24, in the opening match at Bank of America Arena in Seattle, Wash., and will face the winner of the No. 6 seed Washington vs. Missouri match Saturday night. 2007 MWC Tournament Champion UNLV fell in five games to No. 25 Long Beach State by scores of 20-30, 30-28, 27-30, 30-23, 10-15. The Rebels finish the season with a record of 24-6.
