Three Student-Athletes Sign National Letter Of Intent With CSU Bauer and Rogers hail from Colorado.
Nov. 14, 2001 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State women's volleyball coach Tom Hilbert today announced today that three student-athletes have signed national letters of intent and will enroll at the school for the fall semester in 2002. Outside hitter Casey Bauer is a two-time all-state and all-conference performer from Montezuma Cortez High in Cortez, Colo. "She is a very dynamic athlete," said Hilbert. "She holds the state record for kills in a match. She's somebody who has carried her high school team for the last three years. She is a great competitor and has good all around skills. Tess Rogers is a six-foot outside hitter from Wiggins, Colo. She led Merino High School to its 10th consecutive Class A volleyball state championship last weekend, and is a three-time all-state performer. "We've been eyeing Tess since her sophomore year," said Hilbert. "She has great jumping ability and a natural arm swing. I'm really excited about her because she fits the mold of a top Division I outside hitter." The third signee announced by Hilbert today is all-state setter Gwen Davis from Walla Walla, Wash., High School.
"She is a very athletic setter. She has all the tools to be a great
Division I setter but needs training. We plan to redshirt her and space
her and Melissa Courtney out two years. Gwen is also a state qualifier
in the high jump and solid in a lot of other track events. She has
great hands and great balance and has the potential to be a great
blocking setter," said Hilbert.
