Rams clinch top seed in MWC Championship

Colorado State survived a five-game scare in San Diego Friday and swept UNLV Saturday to clinch the 2000 MWC regular season crown and a No. 1 seed in the 2000 McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Volleyball Championship this week in Fort Collins, Colo. BYU and Utah also recorded 2-0 records this week to clinch the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, respectively.

Quarterfinal matches will get underway Thursday, Nov. 16 with semifinals taking place Friday, Nov. 17. The title match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. All matches will be played at Moby Arena and televised by SportsWest. Listed below is a glimpse of the MWC Championship matchups (Championship bracket on page 2):
#1 Colorado State vs. #8 Air Force
#2 BYU vs. #7 Wyoming
#3 Utah vs. #6 UNLV*
#4 SDSU vs. #5 New Mexico*
(*New Mexico earned the No. 5 seed by virtue of the tiebreaker)

Rams Look To Extend 42-Match Home Win Streak
Colorado State wrapped up its regular season with a home record of 14-0, bringing their NCAA-leading home win streak to 42 matches. Colorado State will host the McLeodUSA MWC Volleyball Championship with hopes of extending that streak.
