MWC Volleyball Player of the Week Utah's Airial Salvo earns second weekly award of the season.
Oct. 30, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah sophomore outside hitter Airial Salvo earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her second weekly honor of the season and fourth of her career. Salvo, from Farmington, Utah (Viewmont HS), led ninth-ranked Utah to a sweep over No. 17 BYU last Friday night, extending the Utes' lead in the conference standings to two matches. She served up a career-high and team-best six service aces in the three games to go along with a team-high 14 kills and nine digs. Salvo totaled six of Utah's nine aces on the night. She had only two hitting errors on the night, collecting a hitting efficiency of .444, while also posting two total blocks vs. the Cougars. On the week, Salvo averaged 4.67 kills, 3.00 digs, 2.00 service aces and 0.67 blocks per game, with a .444 hitting percentage (14-2-27).
