CSU Tennis Defeats Northern Colorado 7-0 The Rams are now 13-8 on the year.
April 19, 2005 The Colorado State women's tennis team defeated Northern Colorado 7-0 in the Rams' final dual match of the season. The Rams are now 13-8 on the year. CSU began the day by winning the doubles point. The Rams' Emily Kirchem and Anne Andersen defeated Meredith Krystofik and Karen Groll 8-4 at the No. 1 position, while Carla Pallares and Jessica Jones beat Carmen Vasos and Kellie Crail 8-4 at No. 2. "We struggled a little bit in doubles," said Coach Jon Messick, "but we picked it up in singles. The Rams swept singles play, with only one match going into extra play. Andersen continued on a six-match winning streak by defeating Renee Nuccio in the tie breaker 11-9 at No. 3. Alex Paganetti won her match by not giving up a game to Anna Alexander at the No. 6 position. Kirchem also won a quick match over Krystofik 6-1, 6-1. "It was windy today, but we played hard and got it done," said Messick. "I was proud of them." The Rams travel to San Diego, Calif. next week for the Mountain West Conference Championships. They face UNLV in the first round on Thursday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m. PT. Singles Doubes
