MWC Women's Soccer Players of the Week UNLV's Roberts and BYU's Woodbury Honored
Oct. 2, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV senior midfielder Tanya Roberts and BYU junior goalkeeper Erika Woodbury have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Roberts, a native of Fremont, Calif., scored her second game-winning goal in three matches in the Rebels' 1-0 win over No. 20 Pepperdine Sunday. She had a header in the 107th minute to spark the upset. Roberts' goal gave the Rebels their first win over a ranked team in the program's nine-year history. Woodbury, a Murrieta, Calif., native, moved into the top spot for career saves at BYU with 160 after posting three stops last weekend. With back-to-back shutouts over Arizona and San Francisco, she has blanked eight teams this season, allowing just five goals through 11 games, which is the best in Cougar history.
