Women's Golf Gains Talented Transfer Lobos welcome former Tulsa standout Christine Fernandez, the 2002 WAC Freshman of the Year.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico women's golf head coach Jackie Booth announced the transfer of Christine Fernandez to play for the Lobos during the 2003-04 season. Fernandez, with sophomore status, transfers from the University of Tulsa. As a freshman, she was named the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and was a first team All-Conference member. Fernandez was also the WAC Athlete of the Month for November 2002. In the fall, she had a team leading 75.5 stroke average. Fernandez, hailing from Henderson, Nev., was a four-time letterwinner and honors student at Foothill High School. She won two state class 4A prep titles in 1999 and 2001 and placed first at the 2000 Nevada Women's Golf Championship.
