Amie Jensen Resigns As Colorado State University Women's Golf Coach

Jensen resigns after six seasons at the helm.

May 19, 2000

Fort Collins, Colo. - Colorado State University women's golf coach Amie Jensen today announced she has left her position in order to spend more time with her family.

"I felt this was the best decision for me and my family," said Jensen. "Coaching this team has been one of the greatest times in my life. I thoroughly enjoyed working at Colorado State, especially this past year. We've worked hard to finally get the program to the point where it had enjoyed success, as we did this past season, which makes it difficult to leave. At the same time, I feel good about where the program is and about the future."

Jensen in 2000 was named the Mountain West Conference women's golf coach of the year after leading the Rams to a third-place finish in the conference tournament. The Rams overall enjoyed the finest season in school history, with five top-10 regular-season tournament finishes. Additionally, the Rams' Mayumi Motoyama was named the MWC Freshman of the Year.

Jensen spent six seasons as head coach at Colorado State beginning in 1994. She originally came to Colorado State in 1991 as a member of the women's golf team. She competed for three seasons and as a senior earned all-conference honors after finishing sixth in the conference championships.

"Amie Jensen has been superb in developing and helping plot the course for our women's golf program now and in the future," said athletics director Tim Weiser. "Everyone associated with our program wishes to thank her for her hard work and dedication to the entire program."

Weiser said that associate athletics director Casey Scott will chair a committee to find Jensen's replacement. That process begins immediately.
