New Mexico Captures the Inaugural Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship Wyoming's Lintz wins individual title. (4/26)

St. George, Utah - The University of New Mexico won the 2000 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah, with a 54-hole total of 916. The Lobos were the only team to break the 300 mark during the championship after completing the final round with a 297. New Mexico entered the day with a five-stroke lead and captured the title by 12 strokes over second-place BYU (928). Colorado State finished in third place with a team total of 937, followed by Wyoming in fourth place. San Diego State did not post a team score as two individuals were disqualified in the third round.
Wyoming senior Jordan Lintz overcame a three-stroke deficit to shoot a one-under 71 in the final round to win the individual title. Lintz had a three-day total of 221 (75-75-71). Sophomore Carrie Summerhays of BYU placed second with a three-day total of 224 (72-75-77), while Adrianne Gibby, BYU (79-77-70) and Elisa Kase, UNM (79-78-69) tied for third with a 226. Kase's three-under 69 was a tournament-low.
