STORYLINE: The UNLV women's golf team makes its debut at the Mountain West Conference Championship this week, heading to Sunriver, Ore., to compete for the league title on Monday, April 22-Wednesday, April 24. For the second straight year, the conference's automatic postseason bid will be battled for at Sunriver's Meadows Course (Par 71--6,089 Yards), with 18 holes scheduled for each of the three days. New Mexico is the tournament's two-time defending champ.

ABOUT UNLV: The first-year program erupted into the spring portion of its schedule with a number of school-record performances at the Lady Aztec Invitational in San Diego on Feb. 18-19. Touted freshman Hwanhee Lee was the headliner, recording her first collegiate win as well as the school's first. Lee came from behind to win the 36-hole tourney and captured Player of the Month honors from both the Mountain West Conference and Golf World magazine. The Rebels are currently ranked 23rd in the West District and need to capture the league crown in order to prolong their start-up season.

FIELD: Six Mountain West Conference schools will compete for this year's automatic postseason berth. The Mountain West Conference serves as host to: Brigham Young, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV and Wyoming.

LINEUP: UNLV will stick with the same lineup for the Mountain West Conference Championship as it has all spring: junior Erin Borcherts, sophomore Autumn Monteiro, and freshmen Christine Hentzner, Hwanhee Lee and Tina Mabanta.

HEAD COACH KELLEY HESTER: UNLV women's golf head coach Kelley Hester is in her first season as UNLV's mentor and second overall as a head coach. The University of Georgia graduate spent one season at the helm at Mercer University before returning to her alma mater as an assistant coach for two seasons. Hester was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs, earning All-SEC accolades three times and Academic All-America kudos twice.

RESULTS: Complete results from the Mountain West Conference Championship can be found online following each round at unlvrebels.com.

UP NEXT: Should the Rebels claim a postseason berth by either a conference tournament victory or at-large selection, they would play at one of three regional sites nationally on May 9-11. The site has not yet been determined.
