April 5, 2006
PROVO, Utah -
BYU's two-time All-American Ambrosia Anderson was picked by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2006 WNBA draft. Anderson was selected 17th overall in the second round.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity to extend my college career, said Anderson. "It's a great turning point for me, and I'm excited to be playing for Minnesota along with Shona Thorburn and Seimone Augustus. "I'm going to have to get to know about the team and the city because right now I don't know very much."
Anderson, a 6-foot-2 forward from Colorado Springs, Colo., was the third MWC player chosen in this year's draft. Utah's Thorburn and Kim Smith were also drafted with Smith going to the Sacramento Monarchs.
BYU's Erin Thorn was also drafted 17th in the 2003 WNBA draft. She currently plays for the New York Liberty.
Anderson will graduate from BYU in December.
