SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah senior women's basketball players Kim Smith and Shona Thorburn will both be in Boston next week for the WNBA Draft. The Ute duo were among 42 players invited to Boston for the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp and WNBA Draft.

Thoburn and Smith are both expected to to in the top half of the draft. It's possible the two Canadian Utes could both go in the first round. There are three rounds in the WNBA Draft, with 14 selections in each round.

The WNBA Pre-Draft Camp is slated to take place Monday at Emmanuel College in Boston. Both Smith and Thorburn have been invited to take part in the event. The pre-draft camp will offer WNBA coaches and general managers an opportunity to eavluate the skills of the athletes invited.

The WNBA Draft will then take place Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m. MST at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Television coverage of the draft will be on ESPN2, ESPNU and NBA TV.

WNBA officials announced in February the move to Boston as part of a week-long celebration of women's basketball emanating from that city. Over the next week, Boston also will host the NCAA Women's Division 1 Final Four, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's annual convention, the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp and the WNBA Draft.

The move to Boston represents a departure from previous years when the WNBA Draft was held at NBA TV studios in New Jersey.
