Eight of the nine MWC women's basketball teams opened their conference season last night. The Wyoming at New Mexico match-up was televised nationally on CSTV.

No. 22/22 Wyoming 58, New Mexico 52
Albuquerque, N.M. Wed., Jan. 9, 2008
  • Wyoming defeated New Mexico at The Pit for the first time since January 14, 1995.
  • With the victory over the Lobos, the Cowgirls are currently riding a seven-game win streak and boast a 13-1 overall record.
  • New Mexico's Dionne Marsh had a game-high 24 points.

Utah 60, Air Force, 50
Colorado Springs, Colo. Wed., Jan. 9, 2008
  • Utah's Leilani Mitchell scored 20 points in the second half to secure the win for the Utes. Her 24 points matched her season high.
  • Utah won its conference opener for the eight time in nine years as a member of the MWC.
  • Air Force senior Alicia Steele, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding, left the game with a minute remaining the first half after she re-aggravated an ankle injury from earlier in the season. She finished with six points and eight rebounds.

UNLV 57, Colorado State 55

  • UNLV snapped a three-game losing streak with its win over CSU.
  • The Rebels have won six straight games vs. the Rams.
  • Colorado State had 10 players score at least one point in the game and used all 12 players available for the fourth time this season.

TCU 86, San Diego State 63
Fort Worth, Texas Wed., Jan. 9, 2008
  • With the victory over SDSU, TCU has won every conference opener as a member of the MWC.
  • TCU defended its home court, extending its home win streak to five games.
  • San Diego State freshman Paris Johnson recorded her second double-double of her career with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
