Eight of the nine MWC women's basketball teams opened their conference season last night. The Wyoming at New Mexico match-up was televised nationally on CSTV.

- Wyoming defeated New Mexico at The Pit for the first time since January 14, 1995.
- With the victory over the Lobos, the Cowgirls are currently riding a seven-game win streak and boast a 13-1 overall record.
- New Mexico's Dionne Marsh had a game-high 24 points.

- Utah's Leilani Mitchell scored 20 points in the second half to secure the win for the Utes. Her 24 points matched her season high.
- Utah won its conference opener for the eight time in nine years as a member of the MWC.
- Air Force senior Alicia Steele, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding, left the game with a minute remaining the first half after she re-aggravated an ankle injury from earlier in the season. She finished with six points and eight rebounds.

- The Rebels have won six straight games vs. the Rams.
- Colorado State had 10 players score at least one point in the game and used all 12 players available for the fourth time this season.
