Mountain West Conference Announces Tennis Academic Honorees

SDSU placed a conference-high 12 student-athletes on the Academic All-MWC team.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced the 2001 Academic All-Conference team for men's and women's tennis today. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.

A total of 58 student-athletes earned MWC academic honors for tennis in 2000-01, including 39 women and 19 men. San Diego State led the way with 12 selections, while New Mexico and Utah had nine each. UNLV placed eight academic honorees on this year's list, followed by BYU with six, Colorado State and Wyoming each with five and Air Force with four. Twenty-nine of the 58 Academic All-MWC members were repeat selections from a year ago.
