MWC Announces 2007 Men's Tennis All-Conference Awards San Diego State's Markus Dickhardt named Player of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2006-07 All-Conference team and individual awards for men's tennis today. The MWC awards are selected by the league's seven head coaches.
San Diego State senior Markus Dickhardt was named MWC Player of the Year after posting a 25-7 mark this season, including a 5-1 record in MWC matches and a 7-3 record against ranked opponents. Currently ranked 38th nationally, Dickhardt owns a 15-3 record at the No. 1 position this season and has won 17 of his last 19 matches.
San Diego State's Achim Ceban earned Freshman of the Year honors after posting a 21-12 record in singles play at the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 positions. He was 5-1 in MWC matches this season.
San Diego State head coach Gene Carswell garnered MWC Coach of the Year accolades. Now in his fourth year with the Aztecs, Carswell guided 47th-ranked San Diego State to its third straight MWC regular-season title with a perfect 6-0 record in league matches and a 16-7 overall mark.
BYU, New Mexico, San Diego State, TCU and Utah each had a league-high two singles players on the all-MWC team, followed by Air Force and UNLV with one apiece. Six of the seven programs were represented on the all-MWC team with one doubles team each.
