MWC Weekly Tennis Awards SDSU's Christian Groh and Dita Hauerlandova net honors
April 12, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Christian Groh and Dita Hauerlandova have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. A junior from Crailsheim, Germany, Groh went 2-0 in singles competition last week, including an upset victory over No. 25 Pedro Rico of 2nd-ranked Pepperdine (6-4, 6-4). With a win over UC Santa Barbara's Nick Brotman (6-2, 7-6) at No. 1 singles, Groh extended his winning streak to nine matches. He also teamed with Eugenio Romero to post a 1-1 mark in doubles play last week. This season, Groh is 20-4 overall in singles play. A senior from Prague, Czech Republic, Hauerlandova was a perfect 6-0 in singles and doubles action at the No. 1 position last week. The 84th-ranked player in the polls, Hauerlandova posted wins over No. 121 Emily Kirchem (6-2, 5-7, 7-5) of Colorado State, Karolina Rowinski (6-1, 6-2) of Wyoming and Kat Bushey (6-2, 6-2) of Air Force. She also teamed with Sisse Nielsen for three doubles victories, helping the Aztecs to a 5-1 start in MWC play.
