TCU's Ana Cetnik, New Mexico's Graeme Kassautzki honored

Feb. 7, 2007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico's Graeme Kassautzki and TCU's Ana Cetnik have been named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively.

Kassautzki led 73rd-ranked New Mexico to upsets over No. 63 Nebraska (5-2) and No. 61 Arizona (6-1). Against the Huskers, the sophomore paired with freshman Joe Nicolazzi at No. 3 doubles for a win that gave UNM the doubles point. His singles win at No. 3 over Nebraska's David Bendheim broke a 2-2 tie, leaving the Lobos one point shy of the eventual win.

On Sunday vs. the Wildcats, he and Nicolazzi were the first UNM doubles team to win, setting up the sweep. Then he stepped up to play No. 2 singles and recorded a convincing 6-3, 6-4 win over Arizona's Bruno Alcala.

The Vancouver, British Columbia, native is now 4-1 in singles this spring, increasing his team-high record to 18-5 overall. He is a perfect 2-0 in doubles this spring as well.

Cetnik recorded a 5-1 record last weekend as No. 16 TCU opened up the spring season at the USTA/ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships. She won three singles matches over the weekend, all against nationally-ranked opponents. Against North Carolina, Cetnik upset No. 7 Jenna Long, 6-4, 7-6 (0). The TCU senior went on to defeat No. 22 Bianca Dulgheru of Pepperdine, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, and No. 26 Amanda Fish of Vanderbilt, 6-4, 7-6 (2).

The Belgrade, Serbia, native also earned two doubles victories during the tournament. Cetnik teamed up with Anna Sydorska, as the No. 9 tandem in the nation defeated Pepperdine's duo of Sylvia Kosakowski and Caroline Raba, 8-2, and the No. 19 pair of Amanda Fish and Amanda Taylor of Vanderbilt, 8-4.

Cetnik had an outstanding fall season, pairing up with Sydorska to capture the Wilson/ITA Southwest Region Doubles Championship. The tandem advanced to the ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio, where they were crowned the national doubles runners-up.
