That's A Wrap

Moore, Whisman and Rebels collect end of year kudos.

June 2, 2003

UNLV sophomore men's golfer Ryan Moore can now add "two-time" to his title as the Rebels top player earned PING All-America honors for the second straight year.

Moore, a Puyallup, Wash., native who was an honorable mention All-American last season, was bestowed second-team honors this year by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The Rebel ace becomes the 31st All-American in school history, all produced by head coach Dwaine Knight.

In addition to the national recognition, Moore and teammate Travis Whisman were also named to the All-Pacific Region team. Whisman, a sophomore from Reno, finished 34th at the NCAA Championship and was second on the team with a 72.44 stroke average.

As a team, the Rebels ranked ninth in the final Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index after finishing 13th at the NCAA Championship last week. UNLV leaped from 20th to fourth in the rankings on Oct. 1, 2002, and has not fallen out of the top 10 since.

Individually, Moore ended the year ranked 17th and Whisman was 54th.
