2005 All-Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Team Announced At Conclusion Of Championship UNLV's Ryan Moore selected as player of the year for the second straight time.
April 30, 2005 SUNRIVER, Ore. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2005 men's golf all-conference team and individual awards at the conclusion of its championship today at the Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. UNLV sophomore Ryan Moore was selected as player of the year for the second straight time, while UNLV's Jarred Texter was named freshman of the year. Coach of the year honors went to Glen Millican of New Mexico. Ryan led the Mountain West Conference, and the nation, with a 68.95 stroke average. The senior from Puyallup, Wash., is a four-time all-MWC selection and a two-time All-American. Moore won three of the seven collegiate tournaments he played in this season and finished in the top six in the other four. He is a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award for the third straight year, presented annually to the top collegiate men's golfer. UNLV's Jarred Texter garnered freshman of the year honors after posting a 73.00 stroke average this season and finishing tied for ninth at the 2005 MWC Championship with a two-over 218. New Mexico's Glen Millican captured coach of the year honors for the second time in three seasons after leading the Lobos to their third consecutive MWC Championship and a top five ranking according to both GolfStat.com and GolfWeek.com.
