MWC Men's Golfer of the Month SDSU's Lieber garners honor for first time this season.
Feb. 28, 2002 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State junior John Lieber was named Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for February after leading the Aztecs to their first team title of the 2001-02 season and his first individual crown in collegiate play. Leiber fired an eight-under 207 (65-71-71) over 54 holes and finished two strokes ahead of Matthew Kodama of Hawai'i for medalist honors. He opened the tournament with a career-low seven-under 65 before finishing the final 36 holes with back-to-back 71's. His opening day 65 is the second-lowest round posted in the MWC this year. Lieber lowered his season stroke average to 72.1 and moved up on the MWC leaderboard from ninth to fourth.
