Nine Named to College Football News All-America Teams BYU has four honorees, followed by UNLV with two and Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico with one apiece.
Dec. 15, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Nine Mountain West football players have been named College Football News All-Americans, led by BYU with four selections. On offense, the Cougars have three honorees as Johnny Harline was named a first-team tight end, Jake Kuresa was named a second-team offensive lineman and John Beck was an honorable mention pick at quarterback. On defense, Utah's Eric Weddle was named a first-team defensive back, Wyoming's John Wendlink earned second-team honors at defensive back and New Mexico's Quincy Black was an honorable mention selection at the same position. Nathan Meikle was the Cougars' fourth honoree, earning honorable mention plaudits as a punt returner. UNLV's Ryan Wolfe and Jason Beauchamp were each named Freshman All-Americans. Wolfe was named to the second team, while Beauchamp was honored on the third team.
