More Honors For Nielsen Former right fielder named third team All-America by NCBWA.
June 16, 2004 LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV right fielder Eric Nielsen was honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assocation as it announced its 14th annual All-America Division I baseball teams. Nielsen, the only Mountain West Conference selection on any of the three teams announced by the NCBWA, was named to the third team. Earlier this month, Nielsen was named to the first team of the 2004 Louisville Slugger All-America team as selected by Collegiate Baseball.
Nielsen was also selected as the Mountain West Conference's Player of the Year for 2004. He finished the season with a .402 batting average, while driving in 87 RBI and hitting 16 home runs. Nielsen also set the UNLV single-season record with 101 hits in 251 at bats.
