New Mexico's Jordan Pacheco Named District 8 Player of the Year Pacheco is third consecutive MWC player to garner award.
June 11, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico junior second baseman Jordan Pacheco was named District 8 Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association on June 8. Pacheco, an Albuquerque, N.M., native, hit a team-best .397 with 63 runs, 87 hits, 21 doubles,two triples, five home runs, 50 RBI, 43 walks and seven stolen bases. He was also named the 2007 Mountain West Conference Playerof the Year, as well as third team All-American. Pacheco led the conference in on base percentage (.511), runs, doubles and walks. He also ranked 12th in the nation in batting average, 17th in runs, 23rd in walks and 40th in doubles. The last time Pacheco made the all-American team was as a freshman, placing on the third team and all-freshman team. He is a three-time all-MWC second baseman. Pacheco becomes the third consecutive MWC player to be honored with district player of the year accolades. BYU's Brandon Taylor earned the award in 2005, while Utah's Ryan Khoury was the 2006 honoree.
