Utah's Weese And Air Force's Koegel Named Mountain West Conference Baseball Player And Pitcher of the Week, Respectively Weese hit .500 (7-for-14), while Koegel throws first complete game of his college career.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Utah junior first baseman Nate Weese and Air Force sophomore right-handed pitcher Johnny Koegel are the Mountain West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Weese, from Bountiful, Utah (Bountiful HS), went 7-for-14 (.500) with three RBI, one run scored and a double in three games at Arizona this past week. Weese went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs in Utah's 8-7 series opening loss on Friday, followed by a 1-for-5 performance in the Utes' 6-4 win on Saturday. On Sunday, Weese went 3-for-4 and drove in a run in the Utes' 5-4 loss to the Wildcats. This is the Utes' first player of the week honor this season and the first of Weese's career. Koegel, from West Hills, Calif. (El Camino Real HS), threw the first complete game of his college career in the Falcons' 3-1 victory over Memphis in the title game of the Service Academies Classic on Sunday. He faced 28 batters over seven innings, scattering four hits, allowing one earned run, while striking out a career-high 10 batters and walking just two. His performance earned him a spot on the Service Academies Classic all-tournament team. This is the Falcons' first pitcher of the week honor this season and the first of Koegel's career.
