Wyoming's Gervais Earned MWC Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Timmins, Ontario native tossed the discus a MWC season-best 201-feet, 9-inches at the Mt. SAC Relays last weekend.

Wyoming senior Jason Gervais and BYU senior Elizabeth Jackson were named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, respectively. Gervais, a native of Timmins, Ontario, automatically qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships after tossing the discus a MWC season-best 201-feet, 9-inches at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., last weekend. The mark was over three feet better than his 198-3 toss, also an automatic qualifying mark, the day before at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite. Gervais leads the MWC and ranks fifth in the nation in the discus.
Jackson, of Salt Lake City, Utah (East HS), posted the fastest time in the world this year in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with her time of 9-minutes, 59.50-seconds at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite last weekend. The current American record holder in the event (9:57.20 - 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials), Jackson is the only American woman to break the 10-minute mark, and she has done so twice. In addition to leading the nation in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, she ranks second nationally in the 5,000 meters (16:04.58).
