BYU's Josh McAdams and TCU's Lewis Banda named men's co-athletes of the week, while TCU's Virgil Hodge named women's athlete of the week.

April 4, 2006

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU senior Josh McAdams and TCU senior Lewis Banda have been named Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Co-Athletes of the Week, while TCU sophomore Virgil Hodge was named MWC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. This is the second career weekly honor for McAdams and the first for Banda and Hodge.

McAdams, a Broadview Heights, Ohio, native, finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., last weekend. His regional qualifying time of 8:38.47 is the top time in the nation, as well as the MWC, this season. His time also ranks second in MWC history (behind his own all-time league-best mark set in 2005).

Banda, from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, posted an individual victory in the 400-meter dash, as well as a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash at the Booby Lane Arlington Invitational in Arlington, Texas, last week. He set a new all-time MWC record in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line in 46.22, which currently ranks as the fourth fastest time in the nation. He followed with a runner-up finish in the 200 meters (20.81). His time in the 200 is the fifth fastest in conference history, as well as the third fastest in the nation.

Hodge finished first in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash at the Bobby Lane Invite. Her time of 11.33 in the 100 meters ranks fourth in MWC history and is the sixth fastest mark in the nation. Her time of 23.35 in the 200 meters is currently the fifth fastest time in the country.
