    KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Sophomore Brian Godsey (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) continued to be Miami University's top men's cross country runner Saturday morning after finishing fourth in the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships at Western Michigan University. Freshman Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) was the top finisher for the women's squad finishing seventh.

    Eastern Michigan's mens team won the overall championship with a total of 38 points. Central Michigan and Miami tied for second with a total of 80 points. Eastern Michigan senior Blake McDowell won the 8,000 meter race with a time of 24:19. Central Michigan's women's team edged out Ball State 78 to 79. Miamis women's team finished in tenth-place with 199 points. Toledo freshman Tuula Laitinen was crowned winner of the women's 5,000 meter race with a time of 17:00.

    Godsey was one of three RedHawks to finish in the top ten of the mens race. Godsey finished fourth with a time of 24:30, with freshman Jerry Claunch (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) finishing seventh (24:43) and sophomore Ryan Clark (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) taking home eighth-place (24:49). Seniors Jeff Godsey (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) and Nick Andrews (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) finished 27th and 34th, respectively.

    With Godsey's fourth-place finish, he was named first-team all-MAC, and Claunch and Clark were named to the second-team all-MAC.

    Kremer was the lone RedHawk to finish in the top 20 with her seventh-place finish (17:37). Junior Elizabeth Lundgren (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) was the second highest finisher for Miami placing 29th with a time of 18:24. Senior Megan Stanely (Burke, Va./Robinson) and junior Megan Pratt (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) placed 52nd and 54th, respectively.

    After finishing seventh, Kremer was named to the second-team all-MAC.

    The men's and women's cross country teams are back in action Saturday, November 11, for the Great Lakes Regional Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich.
