The women's cross country teams proved dominant in its 2002 debut as they pulled off an impressive first-place finish at the Miami Invitational on the Western Campus Course. The RedHawks claimed the top three spots in the race and put five runners in the top-ten. It was the women's ninth victory in the 18-year history.
Junior Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) drove the pace ahead on the 5,000-meter course as she broke a 12-year Miami record in the Miami Invitational with her second consecutive first place finish at the Miami Invitational and a time of 17:37.57. Miami junior Kristen Fryburg (Dayton, OH/Kettering Alter) and freshman Katy Pryor (New Castle, IN/New Castle) followed right behind Kremer to give Miami the top three finishers. Fryburg and Pryor finished with times of 18:04.42 and 18:26.88. Junior Kylee Studer (Edgerton, OH/Edgerton) was not far behind with a sixth place finish and a time of 18:31.39. The fifth RedHawk, sophomore Sarah Bertolini (Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas)rounded out the top-ten and crossed the finish line at 18:38.94.
The RedHawks next competition will be on Sept. 21 when the Red and White host the Miami Fall Classic.
