BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With a pole vault of 13-7 3/4 on Friday afternoon at Indiana University, Miami freshman Sarah Landau (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) flew over her own Miami record, the NCAA Mideast Regional record and into the NCAA Championships next month in Sacramento.
Landau topped her previous Miami mark by 4 1/4 inches and bested the regional mark by 1 1/2 inches. She cleared the record height on her first attempt and then made three unsucessful vaults at 13-11 3/4.
Sophomore Lashonda Davis (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo), Miami's record holder in the long jump, was scheduled to compete on Friday in that event, but rain in the area forced a delay with further details to be announced.
Two RedHawk throwers compete Saturday, including sophomore Quekan Ibidunni (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) in the discus and junior Joanna Borawski (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) in the javelin.
