NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman Brittney Bernardoni won the pole vault with a regional-qualifying clearance and the Miami University women's track and field team posted 13 top-10 finishes as it completed the second day of competition Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Miami compiled 40.2 points at the two-day meet in Nashville and finished 11th in a field of 24 teams.
Hitting a regional-qualifying height for the third time this season, Bernardoni placed first in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-6, finishing atop the field of 25 vaulters. Miami junior high jumper Kristina Bolterstein also hit a regional-qualifying in the high jump for the fourth time this season, clearing a second-place height of 5-10. Both Bolterstein and Bernardoni matched their season-best performances in their respective events.
Miami totaled five top-10 finishes in the track events, led by sophomore Alexis Lape's fourth-place and season-best time in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.86). Freshman Alisha Jones and junior Andrea Tepe added top-10 finishes in the event, placing ninth (1:02.78) and 10th (1:03.43), respectively. The RedHawks final top-10 track finishes came from freshman DeLana Turner in the 100-meter hurdles (14.64) and freshman Margarita Pogorelov in the 100 meters (11.92).
A total of eight Miami athletes notched top-10 finishes in the field events, including Bernadoni's first-place performance in the pole vault and Bolterstein's runner-up finish in the high jump. Two additional Miamians joined Bolterstein with scoring finishes in the high jump, as sophomore Katelyn Kelly and freshman Nicki Mitchell placed third (5-7 3/4) and eighth (5-3 3/4), respectively.

Miami competes in its final outdoor meet of April next weekend when it travels to the Hillsdale Relays (April 26-28).
