Field Hockey Earns No. 3 Seed at Mid-American Conference Tournament

OXFORD, Ohio -- The Miami University field hockey team opens Mid-American Conference Tournament play on Nov. 2 versus Missouri State at 2:30 p.m. in Athens, Ohio. The RedHawks, who finished tied for second during regular-season play, will be the No. 3 seed as determined by the league's tie-breaker procedure, and battle the sixth-seeded Bears for the right to play No. 2 Ball State in the semifinals on Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m.
Miami finished the regular season with a 6-4 mark, which tied it with Ball State and Central Michigan for second place behind Ohio University (8-2). Based on the league's tie-breaker procedure, Ball State received the No. 2 seed, while Central Michigan is the No. 4 seed. Kent State is the No. 5 seed after finishing the season at 3-1, with Missouri State coming in at 1-9.
All six of the conferences teams advance to the MAC Tournament with the top two seeds earning a bye into the semifinals. Central Michigan and Kent State are playing in the other quarterfinal game on Nov. 2 at noon, with the winner taking on top-seeded Ohio University on Nov. 3.
The winners of the two semifinal contests meet on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m., with the winner advancing to a play-in game at the winner of the NorPac Conference Tournament on Nov. 7. The winner of that game advances to the 16-team NCAA Tournament field.
