OXFORD, Ohio - Six members of the 2003-04 Miami University field hockey team were recently named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic squad. Student-athletes selected have attained a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2003-04 academic year and are starters or key reserves on their respective teams.

Senior Amy Butterworth (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton), Lauren Plapp (Overland Park, Kan./Barstow School) and Angie Snedden (Sarnia, Ontario/St. Christopher's) head up the list of RedHawks selected to the academic squad. All three earn their third NFHCA academic squad honors while joining them with her third consecutive accolade is junior Gillian Lindsay (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights). Sophomore Jessica Saling (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) earned her second NFHCA honor, while freshman Deb Leighton (Encinitas, Calif./LaCosta Canyon) was the only Red and White rookie representative on the all-academic squad.

The RedHawks finished the 2003 season with a 1-17 overall mark and 0-10 conference record, and are currently in the midst of their spring season.
