Fort Lewis Rallies From 11-point Deficit, Upsets No. 14-ranked Metro State, 67-64

DURANGO, COLO. - Fort Lewis rallied from an 11-point deficit with 14:07 to play and upset No. 14-ranked Metro State, 67-64, in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium.

The Roadrunners led 46-35 with 14:07 left in the game when the Skyhawks went on a 22-6 run to take a 57-52 lead with 4:39 remaining. Metro State bounced back to tie the game at 57 with 3:23 to play and it was still tied, 60-60, with 2:27 left. Fort Lewis then made four straight free throws to lead 64-60 with 1:23 remaining. The Roadrunners made a layup to close to within two points, 66-64, with six seconds left but couldn't get another shot off.

Drew Williamson and Dustin Ballard tallied 15 points apiece, while Michael Bahl had six rebounds and four assists. Metro State lost despite shooting 73.7 percent (14-for-19) in the second stanza. Ryan Johnson led Fort Lewis with 20 points.

Fort Lewis scored 21 points off of 16 Metro State turnovers and outscored the Roadrunners, 13-0, on second chance points.

With the win, Fort Lewis improves to 5-1 overall, 2-0 in the RMAC, while Metro State drops to 3-4 overall, 0-2 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners host New Mexico Highlands, Dec. 16.
