CS Dominguez Hills Rallies Late, Defeats Metro State, 79-73

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- Cal State Dominguez Hills shot 52.9 percent from the floor for the game and defeated No. 13-ranked Metro State, 79-73, at the Cal State Los Angeles Classic, Friday evening at the Eagles Nest.

Metro State led 66-62 with 6:10 to go but the Toros went on a 13-2 run to lead 75-68 with 1:27 left. The Roadrunners shot just 39.3 percent from the floor for the game and were outrebounded 37-28 as CSUDH had 12 second-chance points.

Marquise Carrington had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Terrell Burgess added 13 points for the Roadrunners. Jonathan Toliver had 17 points and three assists for the Toros.

In a game that featured 12 lead changes, Metro State was plagued by foul trouble. Daniel Bass fouled out, while three other players ended the game with four fouls.

Metro State trailed by six at the half, 37-31, but assumed a 50-45 lead with 12:38 remaining. However, CSUDH scored eight straight points to take a 53-50 advantage.

With the win, CSUDH improves to 1-0 overall, while Metro State falls to 3-3 overall. The Roadrunners face CS Los Angeles Saturday at 5 p.m., PT.
