Metro State Falls To Nebraska-Kearney, 85-75

KEARNEY, NEB. - Nebraska-Kearney had five players in double figures as the Lopers defeated Metro State, 85-75, in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday night at the Health and Sports Center.

The Roadrunners were led by Drew Williamson with 21 points, while Dorian Smith added 16 points. Greg Muth posted seven rebounds and four assists. Dusty Jura and Chris Dean led Nebraska-Kearney with 17 points apiece.

Metro State shot just 4-for-16 from three-point land, while the Lopers were 10-for-20 from long range. UNK also outscored the Roadrunners from the free-throw line, 19-11, as the Lopers made more from the stripe than Metro State attempted (14). Nebraska-Kearney shot 56.7 percent from the field in the second half.

Metro State led 14-13 early in the game but the Lopers went on a 10-2 run to lead 23-16. After the Roadrunners fought back to lead 25-24 with 5:11 remaining, Nebraska-Kearney battled to take a 37-33 halftime advantage.

In the second half, the Roadrunners trailed by just five, 48-43, but the Lopers went on a 16-6 run over a six-minute stretch to extend their lead to 64-49 with 9:09 left in the contest.

With the win, Nebraska-Kearney improves to 18-5 overall, 13-2 in the RMAC, while Metro State falls to 16-7 overall, 10-5 in the RMAC. Metro State hosts Chadron State, Feb. 17.
