COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Marquise Carrington scored a career-high 23 points and also had four assists to lead No. 10-ranked Metro State to an 87-82 victory over UC-Colorado Springs in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball game, Saturday evening at the Lions Den.

It was Metro State's 28th consecutive victory over the Mountain Lions in the series without a loss.

Michael Bahl scored 18 points, while Jesse Wagstaff added nine points and 12 rebounds for the Roadrunners. Patrick Hannaway and Bly McGuire each had 22 points for UCCS.

With Metro State leading 83-82, the Mountain Lions had a 2-on-1 break but Carrington jumped in and intercepted a pass, then knocked down two free throws to help preserve the win.

Both teams shot extremely well from the field as Metro State shot 53.4 percent from the floor and UCCS shot 55.8 percent. The Roadrunners had 14 treys, though, while UC-Colorado Springs had just seven.

With the win, Metro State improves to 17-2 overall, 10-1 in the RMAC, while UC-Colorado Springs falls to 14-5 overall, 7-4 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners host Nebraska-Kearney, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
