Roadrunners Split Doubleheader With Colorado Christian

DENVER, COLO. -- Jake Palmer and Josh Marner combined for eight hits and five RBI to lead Metro State to a 15-4 win in the first game, while Colorado Christian bounced back to take game two, 12-6, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference baseball action, Saturday afternoon at Regis Field.

In the opener, Palmer went 5-for-6 with three RBI, while Marner was 3-for-5 with two RBI and Brent Bowers was 2-for-6 with two RBI. The Roadrunners led 10-6 after six innings and had 20 hits in the contest. Metro State was also helped by seven Cougar errors.

Josh Eckert earned the win for Metro State, throwing seven innings and giving up three earned runs and seven hits, while striking out four.

In the nightcap, Colorado Christian held Metro State to just five hits and scored in the first, third and fourth innings. The Cougars led 8-4 after four frames as they salvaged the final game of the four-game series.

Marner was 1-for-3 with two RBI for the Roadrunners.

With the split, Metro State moves to 14-26 overall, 12-17 in the RMAC, while Colorado Christian falls to 10-35 overall, 6-22 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners are at New Mexico Highlands, April 27.
