Tolentino Prepares For NCAA Track and Field Championship

DENVER, COLO. - Metro State's Todd Tolentino competes in the 5000 meters at the NCAA Track and Field Championship, beginning Friday at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

Tolentino, who is Metro State's first NCAA qualifier since the program was added for 2006-07, runs the 5000-meter preliminary race at 7:20 p.m., EDT, Friday. The preliminary race has two heats with nine runners in each heat. Tolentino is in the second heat. The top four finishers in each heat and the next four fastest finishers overall advance to the event final, Saturday at 8:03 p.m.

The NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships, which features over 620 participants, will be hosted by Johnson C. Smith University at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, N.C., May 24-26.
