Lakers Fall in Three at Ashland
Oct. 20, 2006 ASHLAND, Ohio - Julia Butler had a career-high with four aces, but Ashland (16-8, 10-5 GLIAC) defeated Mercyhurst (6-16, 1-13 GLIAC) in three games, 30-15, 30-25, 30-18. Butler had served up only six aces on the season before nearly matching that total against the Eagles. The freshman setter also had 23 assists. Jenna Matson led the Lakers with 10 kills and also picked up 10 digs. Julie McConaughy had a team-high 13 digs. Christine Nisbet hit .429 in the match, while the Lakers hit just .058 as a team. Three Ashland players had double digit kills. Marina Santos led the way with a dozen, Beth Dangel had 11 and Mary Kate Glowe had 10. Lynsey Warren passed out 40 assists, had three aces and 10 digs. Glowe had a match-high 14 digs. Ashland's hitters combined for a .340 percentage in the match, fueled by a .522 mark in game three. Mercyhurst will look to rebound on Saturday, October 21 with a match at Findlay. The opening serve is set for 3:00 PM. |
