Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst College Athletic Director Craig Barnett has announced that men's and women's tennis coach Neil Leroy has been relieved of his coaching duties, effective October 9. Discussions are proceeding to hire an interim coach.

"We thank Neil for his efforts and service after taking over the tennis programs last December," Barnett stated. "Our women's tennis team is enjoying a successful season and looking forward to the GLIAC Championships later this month."

Leroy was relieved of his duties due to philosophical differences. While Barnett is proceeding forward with an interim coach, he has also started the search for a permanent coach.

The Mercyhurst women's tennis team is 9-2 this year and 6-2 in the GLIAC. The Lakers finish the regular season with matches against Duquesne, St. Bonaventure and Ashland before competing in the GLIAC Tournament October 25-27.

The Mercyhurst men's team has played one fall match, losing to Allegheny College. The Lakers play their final fall match Saturday against Duquesne before competing in their traditional spring season.
