BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Mercyhurst dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match at Ferris State by an 8-1 score. The loss drops the Lakers to 4-3 on the season and 2-2 in the conference.

Jaclyn McLean earned Mercyhurst's only win of the afternoon, taking a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 6 singles.

The Lakers came up short in two other close matches. At second singles, Jamie Sutyak took the first set, 6-1, but Marissa Muchow escaped with the win when she won the next two sets, 6-1, 6-3. Chelsea Downing and Elizabeth Mullane dropped a 7-5 tiebreaker at third doubles to fall 9-8.

The match was both the season and conference opener for the Bulldogs.

Mercyhurst travels to Grand Valley for a 10:00 AM match on Saturday, September 23.
