Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's tennis team returned to .500 on the season by defeating previously unbeaten Saginaw Valley State 7-2 Saturday. The Lakers took five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

Mercyhurst, now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC, won a pair of tight doubles matches as Jennifer Daly and Jamie Sutyak won 8-6 at No. 1 and Christine Mersch and Elizabeth Mullane won 8-5 at No. 3, keeping the Lakers unbeaten in that spot this year.

At the top of the singles lineup, Daly and Meghan Raynor rolled to straight set wins, while Jaclyn McLean picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6, another spot the Lakers have yet to drop a set at this year. Chelsea Downing and Mullane battled through tougher matches to pick up victories as well.

Saginaw Valley falls to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC with the loss after defeating Findlay and Ashland already this year. The Lakers will be back in action Tuesday at Allegheny at 4 p.m.
