Lakers Enter NCAA Championships At No. 20
Oct. 31, 2006 Erie, Pa. - After spending one week out of the NSCAA/Adidas Division II Top 25, the Mercyhurst women's soccer team vaulted back into the rankings at No. 20. The Lakers are No. 2 in the Great Lakes Region. Finishing 16-3 on the year, Mercyhurst defeated rival Gannon 4-3 this week and moved up a spot in the region rankings. The Lakers trail only No. 8 Grand Valley State in the region rankings. Quincy and the University of Indianapolis, both tied at No. 25, are third and fourth in the region respectively. Nebraska-Omaha, West Chester and UC-San Diego remain the top three teams in the poll. Carson-Newman jumped three spots to No. 4 and Tampa moved up three spots as well to No. 5. Indiana (Pa.), a team Mercyhurst defeated 2-1 this year, is ranked No. 16. The Lakers are one of four teams that moved into the Top 25 this week. New Haven is No. 22, Bryant No. 23 and Indianapolis No. 25. |
