Women's Golf Opens First Round Play At Mercyhurst Invite

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's golf team opened the Mercyhurst Invitational under soggy conditions Saturday, placing seventh out of 12 teams that completed day one of the event. With rain and darkness, two teams were yet to finish opening rounds.
The Lakers were paced by Caitlin Cummings, who shot an 85. Carolyn Halinda followed with an 88 and Alex Spoerndle finished with a 90. Jenny Halinda had a 91 and Alanna Kirwan shot a 93. Kaitlin Brody finished with a 109.
Among individuals who were not competing in the team event, Mercyhurst's Mattye Laurer shot a 94 and Abby Letson ended with a 112.
The Lakers will attempt to complete the Mercyhurst Invitational Sunday beginning at noon. |
